We've moved! Redirecting you to our new home in 5 seconds...

Hello Everyone! If you’re reading this here, you’re probably one of the people who’s been part of The Ballerina Project India from the beginning. For that, thank you so much, we're glad you've been a part of our journey. And now you're seeing us grow to new heights! BPI started on this platform, and it’s where many of our earliest conversations, ideas, and posts lived. Over time, the project grew, and so did what we wanted this space to be. We needed a home that could hold not just posts, but conversations, community, and everything BPI is becoming. So we’ve moved. The Ballerina Project India now lives on Substack. All our earlier posts have moved there too, and all future writing, discussions, and updates will happen there. This isn’t an ending. It’s just a change of address (and maybe a few more things, but we won't spoil the surprise) You can find our new home here:👉 https://theballerinaprojectindia.substack.com If you’ve been following along for a while, we’d love ...

What does ballet mean to you?

Hello everyone!
Before we begin understanding this unique, elegant artform, we decided to first conduct a survey to understand what non-dancers think ballet is.
Our results were remarkably diverse!
We surveyed around 60 individuals, which is a really small group of people, yet we found ourselves sorting through a number of diverse responses.

Our findings are charted in the packed circle chart below:

Note: Many survey results matched multiple categories. However, to make sorting and understanding the chart easier, we've simply sorted them into the most suitable categories.

As you can see, most of the surveyed individuals think ballet is a dance form that focuses on grace and storytelling.

In our next posts we will be sharing what ballerinas themselves think this beautiful dance style means.

The definition of this art is subjective to the individual perspective, however through these analyses we will be able to understand the general perception of what ballet means to us all.
